COUNSELLING DIVISION

Aims and Objectives
To assist young people with information and counseling that will enable them to cope with their socio-economic challenges.

CAREER COUNSELLING

  • Provision of career and bursary information, career assessment, questionnaires, subject and career choices both manually and electronically through career mentor.
  • Referral to tertiary and bursary institutions and provision of application forms.
  • The service also provides career goal setting through the usage of career mentor, which is electronic/computerized career information.

BUSINESS MENTORING AND COUNSELLING

  • This is provision of after care and support to the people who want to venture into business enterprises
  • It provides business information
  • It assists young entrepreneurs with development of Business Plans, Identity and Link them with Business or Start-up Capital providers. It assists in registering your business and identifying institutions that can provide Technical and Business skills that will in turn be an advantage for businesses.

REGISTRATION AND PLACEMENT OF UNEMPLOYED YOUTH

Registration and redirection of young people to the following programmes:

  • Career pathing
  • Job Preparation
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Business Counselling
  • Computer Training Skills
  • Learnerships and Employment opportunities
  • Employment opportunities and job hunting support service

The purpose is to gather the skills and fields of interest.  We are aiming at linking or placing as many unemployed youth as possible with companies.  The placement can either be temporary, contract, permanent or learnerships opportunities.  

RESOURCE CENTRE

  • This service offers Information and Reading material to support young people on various issues relating to Youth Development such as social justice, business information, health issues, labour law and practice, community services, etc
  • The centre enables young people to acquire information by means of Booklets, Brochures, etc.
  • It also provides material distribution on HIV/AIDS, Careers, Business, Life Skills and Male/Female Condoms to organizations.
