1. When was CYD established?
In December 1995, and was known as Kagiso Student Youth Centre (KSYC) when it started, until the change of name in 2001 to Centre for Youth Development.
2. Does CYD have a board?
Yes, it has seven board members which meet on quarterly basis.
3. How many staff members does CYD have?
The staff complement of CYD 8 ( 4 males and 4 females)
4. Who funds CYD?
CYD receives funding from foundations and institutions that share similar objectives as CYD
5. Does CYD operate nationally?
Not yet but the plan is to expand through consulting services on youth development issues.
6. What does CYD really do?
CYD is a Youth Advisory Centre focusing on youth development in SA. It provides free services in Counselling, i.e. business counselling; career counselling; psychological/well being counselling; Training Development i.e. entrepreneurship skills, job preparation, computer training skills, etc. CYD does evaluation and monitoring of its programmes on regular basis.
7. Which ages does CYD define as youth?
14-28 years, but we find ourselves extending our services to youth between 14-35 years as required by some of our partner organisations.
8. Can CYD provide internship for youth workers?
Yes, CYD accept a minimum number of Youth work interns per year who are based in South Africa and International institutions. It also employs youth work students.
10. What training does CYD provide?
Computer Training skills, Job preparation, entrepreneurship, Life skills, Sexual Reproductive Health, Career and Employment workshops.

CYD has received provisional accreditation for the following programmes Life Skills and Entrepreneurship from the Services Seta.
